Doing the Dew down by the road
While heading Southside last Saturday evening, me and the family came across this site, but the side of the road:

Yep, that’s an advertisement for James Dewberry, one of several candidates for mayor. On the one hand it’s a low tech and cheap way of advertising. On the other hand, I just want to go up to the truck and see if he’s selling fruit or shrimp, you know? I was instantly reminded of the truck that functioned as a sign for The Crab Shack. Since the restaurant wasn’t visible from the road, they stuck a truck by the roadside with directions for how to get there. It was nice, simple, kinda homey touch that doesn’t seem to translate to a political campaign.
While I was taking the picture, my wife went into Alvidaart Art Gallery to catch up with a friend and I joined them after a few minutes. We talked for about half an hour and then left to finally go to dinner, but when we came out, the truck was gone. That was a weird feeling. I get the point, the truck will be parked in all sorts of prominent places, but it just seems odd to have it disappear within a half hour. Almost sounds like a cheesy horror movie.
