Hotel Simone, a MMI Hotel Group property, announces Suzanne Scaglione as the next Artist in Residency in partnership with Glynn Visual Arts. Since launching this initiative in 2023, Hotel Simone has featured dozens of locally-sourced artworks throughout the lobby for both residents and hotel guests to admire.

Hotel Simone welcomes new artist in residency in partnership with Glynn Visual Arts and Suzanne Scaglione

A 'Meet the Artist' reception is planned for Thursday, July 25 in the hotel's lobby from 5:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m., and all members of the community are invited to attend. Hotel Simone Operations Manager and avid local art supporter Virginia Hall will host the casual affair and offer guided tours of the hotel suites and common areas. Light refreshments will be available for purchase.

For many years, Scaglione found a creative outlet in the food industry, working in restaurants across North Carolina and Georgia, including owning and operating a catering business in Brunswick for two decades. Through a drawing class hosted by Glynn Visual Arts, Scaglione was opened to the world of art via colored pencils, watercolors and finally, her medium of choice, acrylic paints. Upon retiring, she has pursued her artistry full-time, earning several ribbons at the annual Jekyll Island Art Festival.

Scaglione’s artwork will be on display through September 30 and can be viewed daily during normal business hours in the lobby of Hotel Simone, located at 1200 Ocean Blvd., St. Simons Island, Georgia. All her artwork on display is available for purchase with a portion of the proceeds benefiting Glynn Visual Arts.
