Stono Not Jim Crow

00.00
The rebels of Stono defied slavery and subjugation, September 9, 1739. In a DRUM led revolt begun by Cato, they forcefully left the plantation (SC). With Savannah and the Savannah River as through way, Christian Africans broke the bonds of captivity to unapologetically cut a SC, GA, FL pathway. They inhabited an eco-cultural stronghold igniting a flow of maroon and Seminole resistance. Their Drums of Freedom, Drumfolk, signaled a crucial difference: self-determined liberation agency v. adjusted entertainment/leisure/pass time. Also, unlike chattel slave and land taking Patriots and/or colonists, theirs was a genuine liberty and justice declaration.
