The ensemble’s playlist embraces traditional chamber music repertoire, and newly commissioned works from voices that reflect historical events and the times in which we currently live.

To date, one of Imani Winds’ most humbling recognitions is a permanent presence in the classical music section of the Smithsonian National Museum of African American History and Culture in Washington, D.C.

The Savannah Philharmonic's 16th-season opening night concert program includes Yūzō Toyama's Rhapsody for Orchestra, the American premiere of Ruth Gipps's "Death on the Pale Horse," Jeff Scott's "Paradise Valley," and Rachmaninoff's Symphony No. 2.

Members of Imani Winds quintet are Brandon Patrick George, flute; Toyin Spellman-Diaz, oboe; Mark Dover, clarinet; Kevin Newton, French horn; and Monica Ellis, bassoon.

In addition to the August 24 concert, Imani Winds members will work with students at Groves High School and Savannah High School on August 22. The full quintet will work with students at Savannah Christian Preparatory School on August 23.
