Mayor urges fugitives on Savannah's Most Wanted list to 'lawyer up, come on in'

Three of the 10 'Most Wanted' have been arrested since the list's release on July 16. Abu Moultrie was the latest fugitive arrested on July 23

Only one week into the “Top 10 Most Wanted Fugitives” list being released by the City of Savannah and Savannah Police Department (SPD), three of the 10 men have been arrested. Abu Ali Moultrie was the latest member of the list to be caught, as Chatham County Jail Bookings show he was arrested on Tuesday, July 23 by SPD.
At the time of his regular weekly press briefing on Tuesday morning, Mayor Van Johnson was aware of the first two arrests which took place on Wednesday, July 17. Lavorise “Papa” Jackson gave himself up to police then, according to Johnson. The 52-year-old was arrested in connection to a June 28 shooting at the 1000 block of West Bay Street. His charges include aggravated assault and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, according to SPD public affairs.
Taurus Holloway was also arrested on July 17. He was charged with three counts of aggravated assault, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, and possession of a firearm in the commission of a crime, according to news reports.

“So I say again to those who are on the list, go ahead and lawyer up, take care of your affairs, come on in and let’s get this addressed. You don’t want us to solve this in the streets, at a time when you may not want it to happen, or at a place where your family and loved ones will be around. You can’t start doing better until you face what you’re charged with.”

Moultrie, 27, was arrested hours after Johnson's comments at City Hall. He was charged with felony aggravated stalking, a felony parole violation, and obstruction, according to jail records.
